Our students have spent much of the first two weeks of school settling into their new daily school routines, meeting new friends, and beginning the important work of mastering their grade level standards. As parents, I know you are invested in their success and I thank you for partnering with us this year to ensure your child's educational needs are being met. Here are some important things I hope you will focus on at home to assist your child:
- Establish family homework procedures that include a regular time, place, and review process for checking daily assignments with your child.
- Commit to a family morning routine that ensures your child arrives at school between 7:40 and 7:55, ready to learn.
- Communicate with your child each morning before school begins, so that s/he knows how to get home at the end of the school day.
- Encourage your child to read at home for at least 30 minutes each day.
At Mack, we're excited to welcome our students and their dads (or other great male role models) to our Pizza with Pops event on Tuesday, September 8 at 6:00 pm. There will be information on our Watch D.O.G.S program and, of course pizza and drinks, for students and their male role models. Then, Wednesday, September 9, we'll be holding our first PTO meetings of the year, and all parents are invited. The 2:30 meeting will include our election of officers, and our 6:00 pm meeting will be a recap. We hope to see you at one of our meetings, in the library, to begin planning for the year's events!
All potential volunteers who will be helping on campus this year must be trained by Mrs. Lederer, our volunteer coordinator. Please plan to participate in volunteer training on Friday, September 18 at 8:00 am, in the Mack multipurpose room. After you are officially trained (or retrained), teachers will be putting you onto their volunteer calendars and you will be welcome to come in and assist as needed and available. Thank you in advance for being valuable volunteers!
Some other important things to remember. . .
Free school lunch applications can be completed online at applyforlunch.com. If your child is currently receiving free lunch, but you have not re-applied for this year, your free lunch benefits will expire soon. Please take care of your application now so your child will have lunch to eat each day, without any gaps or delays in processing your request.
Student classes are full and we are not accepting any zone variances for the remainder of this year.
All teachers and staff have email addresses that are linked to this website. Please find them in the Classroom Websites tab.
Here's to a great third week at Mack!
